Pediatric Diabetes
The clinic and education program provide ongoing comprehensive inter-disciplinary education and specialized care to children with diabetes and their families. Patients discuss areas of need and collaborate with the providers and educators to develop an individualized plan of care. Healthcare providers include diabetes educators, dietitians and social worker.
Clinic Resources
Our interdisciplinary team provides medical care and education in diabetes and endocrinology. This includes care for Type 1 and 2 diabetes, thyroid, adrenal, growth, pubertal, bone metabolism disorders in children and adolescents.
Education
Certified Diabetes Educators, consisting of pediatric nurses and dietitians, provide individual and group diabetes classes, including carbohydrate counting, pump preparation and initiation, and follow up on new onset education.
Research
We have ongoing research programs investigating Type 1 diabetes, (etiology and prevention) and abnormalities of pubertal growth and bone metabolism.
