Education
Diabetes Education is essential in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with diabetes. The Utah Diabetes and Endocrinology Center (UDEC) has a diabetes education team consisting four Registered Dietitians, and one Clinical Pharmacist. Our educators are highly skilled in all areas of diabetes education as well as diet for bariatric surgery, weight loss management, renal dietary management and basic healthy eating. Our educators are certified by the American Diabetes Association in Diabetes Self-Management Training (DSMT). We teach patients to monitor and maintain their blood sugars at a healthy level to decrease complications associated with diabetes.
We offer diabetes education group classes at the UDC and elsewhere in the Salt Lake valley. Patients can also schedule individual education visits with our educators depending on their needs. Most insurance companies will pay for diabetes education. Registration is required for all our classes and individual appointments.
In addition to diabetes education classes, we also offer the following resources to help you manage your diabetes:
- Helpful recipes to help control diabetes (updated monthly)
- Prevalence of Diabetes (includes a diabetes risk test)
- Helpful Links (additional information on preventing and/or managing diabetes)
