Build-A-Bone Class

Location

"Build-A-Bone" classes are held at the University Orthopaedic Center. Located on the corner of Foothill Boulevard and Wakara Way. The center offers easy access and convenient parking. Please park on the upper level parking lot and enter via the Physical Therapy entrance. The classes are held in the Physical Therapy Gym located on the upper level entrance.

Classes

Class 1:

Bone Health

  • Posture and body mechanics
  • What is normal bone
  • What is bone density
  • What is osteoporosis
  • What is osteopenia
  • Behavior changes needed for bone health
  • Nutrition for bone health

Class 2:

Walking

  • Learn how to use a pedometer
  • Learn a walking program designed for you

Balance

  • Learn balance exercises to prevent falls

Class 3:

Medical

  • Aspects of Bone Health

Weight Lifting

  • Learn how to use weights to build bone in your arms, legs, and spine

Class 4:

Core Strength

  • Learn proper posture
  • Learn exercises to improve posture and trunk or "core" strength

Nutrition

  • Learn what foods to eat for good bone

2008 Dates:

Jan:  8, 12, 15, 19  

Feb:  5, 9, 12, 16

March: 4, 8,11, 15

April: 1, 5, 8, 12

May: 6, 10, 13, 17

June: 3, 7, 10, 14

Sept: 2, 6, 9, 13

Oct: 7, 11, 14, 18

Nov: 4, 8, 11, 15

Note: There are no classes in July & August.

Class Times:

Tuesday: 5pm to 7pm
Saturday: 9am to 11am

Cost:

$125.00 for all four classes
Price includes a pedometer
