Gerald J. Gleich, M.D.

Dr. GleichGerald J. Gleich, M.D.  has had a life-long professional commitment to understanding allergy.  Dr. Gleich is an experienced clinician who went into research to advance the field and continues to confront the most difficult patient cases.

He has served on many committees and editorial boards, received numerous honors including memberships in honorary societies, and has authored over 600 articles in the scientific literature.  Dr. Gleich is presently a Professor of Dermatology and Medicine at the University of Utah.

Dr. Gleich’s medical training includes a degree in Medicine from the University of Michigan, Internal Medicine residency training at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, Florida, and postdoctoral training at the University of Rochester, Rochester, New York.  Dr. Gleich established a research laboratory for allergic diseases at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota.  At Mayo Clinic, he was Professor of Medicine and Immunology, Chair of the Department of Immunology, Distinguished Investigator of the Mayo Foundation, and the George M. Eisenberg Professor of Medicine and Immunology. 

Dr. Gleich is married to Kristin M. Leiferman, M.D., Professor of Dermatology at the University of Utah. He has seven children and three grandchildren.  In addition to his work and family, he enjoys skiing, hiking and biking.
